5 Indian U-19 stars and their senior counterparts who they might replace in the future

The U-19 Indian team recently captured the U-19 cricket World Cup for the fourth time. It was a clinical performance from the Men in Blue. Under the mentorship of Rahul Dravid, the team remained undefeated throughout the tournament. It was a well-rounded team effort which led to the victory.

There were few players who caught the attention of the cricketing world with their scintillating performances.We'll look at 5 such players who can replace their senior counterparts in the near future.


#1 Prithvi Shaw and Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma is currently in the form of his life. He has achieved tremendous success both as a player and a captain. Another player who has been making the right noises is Prithvi Shaw. The right-handed batsman has been in tremendous form for both India A and Mumbai.

They can certainly match each other shot-to-shot. The timing of their shots and the ease with which they find gaps are a treat to watch. The young U-19 star would certainly be ready to take Rohit's place in the near future.

#2 Manjot Kalra and Shikhar Dhawan

Manjot Kalra is a stylish left-handed batsman who scored a sublime century in the 2018 U-19 World Cup final. The southpaw certainly resembles his senior counterpart in many ways. Besides both of them being left-handed opening batsman, the two represent Delhi in the state level as well.

Both the players are known for their exquisite timing through the offside. It is hoped that in the years to come Majot Kalra would replicate the success of his senior counterpart.

#3 Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli

Shubman is considered the next poster boy of Indian cricket. The stylish right-hander from Punjab grabbed the Man of the Series award in the U-19 World Cup in 2018. Shubman Gill is often compared to Virat Kohli courtesy of the way he plays.

The use of the wrists, the stance and the presence at the crease certainly reminds one of a young Virat Kohli. Besides, both the players bat at No.3 for their respective teams. One can hope that he too would go on to achieve the same success at the international level like Virat Kohli has.

#4 Abhishek Sharma and Yuvraj Singh

Abhishek Sharma is an elegant left-handed batsman who also bowls useful left-arm spin. The U-19 star currently plays for Delhi Daredevils in the IPL. He certainly reminds one of another southpaw from Punjab, Yuvraj Singh. Yuvraj Singh too represented India in the U-19 level and won a World Cup.

The two left-handed batsman are known for their elegant stroke-play and useful left-arm spin in the middle overs. Yuvraj Singh is in the fag end of his career. It is hoped that the U-19 star goes on to replicate the same success for the senior team.

#5 Anukul Roy and Ravindra Jadeja

Anukul Roy is a left-arm slow bowler and also a useful lower-order batsman. The all-rounder represented India at the U-19 level and currently plays for Jharkhand. He certainly reminds us of a young Ravindra Jadeja, who was coming through the ranks.

Jadeja too had won the U-19 World Cup under the leadership of Virat Kohli in 2008. It is believed among the cricketing circles that the young lad will soon represent the country in the near future.
