Ajinkya Rahane's father arrested in Kolhapur

Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane's father, Madhukar Baburao Rahane was arrested on Friday in Kolhapur after his car hit a woman on the national highway. The woman was immediately taken to one of the local hospitals but she succumbed to her injuries following her road accident.

According to reports, the 67-year-old woman was identified as Ashatai Kamble and met with the accident on the national highway near Kagal bus station. It is reported that Rahane's father was travelling with the family in his Hyundai i20 when the accident took place, however, it is still unclear as to who was driving the vehicle.

Ajinkya Rahane’s father, his mother and sister were on their way for a vacation before the accident took place. There was a crowd that gathered around the car immediately before the woman was rushed to a nearby hospital but the accident was fatal and she died as a result of the injuries suffered. The Kolhapur Police have reportedly registered a case under IPC Act 304A, 337, 338, 279 and 184.

Ajinkya Rahane isn't with his family at the moment as he is currently part of the Indian ODI team, who are playing Sri Lanka in the three-match ODI series. Rahane has not played in the first two ODIs but the series is level at 1-1 and the decider will take place at Visakhapatnam on Sunday.
