#15 Well served, well deserved

2018 was a remarkable year for India in Table Tennis, as the athletes achieved the unprecedented in the discipline. India won medals in all the seven events at the CWG, with Manika Batra, Men's and Women's team bagging historic golds.

The paddlers also ended up on the podium for the first time in the Asian Games, with the Men's team and the mixed doubles pair of Achanta Sharath Kamal and Manika Batra winning bronze.


#14 Gold Toast at Gold Coast

India finished third on the medal tally in CWG 2018 at Gold Coast, winning 26 gold, 20 silver and 20 bronze medals. This event saw many senior Indian athletes marking their comeback to the podium, with Saina Nehwal, Sushil Kumar and MC Mary Kom winning gold.

There were historic medals in the disciplines like Table Tennis, Javelin Throw and the team events of Badminton.


#13 Well-played at Adelaide, historic punch on Boxing Day

Team India created history, as they won the Test matches in Adelaide and Melbourne by 31 runs and 137 runs respectively, leading the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2-1 for the first time Down Under.

Cheteshwar Pujara and Jasprit Bumrah were the main men for India in both the victories, as Pujara scored gritty centuries in both the games, while Bumrah claimed six and nine scalps respectively in the two matches.

This was the first time that India won the first Test of a series in Australia, and also a first victory at the Boxing Day test at MCG.


#12 'The Wall' gets inducted in the Hall

Rahul Dravid became the fifth Indian to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, as he received the honours officially from another legend Sunil Gavaskar in Thiruvananthapuram in November.

Hailed as 'The Wall', Dravid is one of the all-time greats of the game with 13,288 runs in 164 Tests and 10,889 runs in 344 ODIs. The other Indians on the list are Sunil Gavaskar, Bishan Singh Bedi, Kapil Dev and Anil Kumble.


#11 Kidambi Srikanth shuttles his way to the top

Ever since the introduction of computerized rankings, Kidambi Srikanth became the first Indian male athlete to be ranked World No.1. He achieved the feat in April, courtesy his four World Series victories in the previous year.
