Indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara has been named in the Saurashtra squad for the upcoming West Zone League T20 cricket tournament.

Pujara has not been given a chance to play for India recently in the limited overs formats. He will be looking to make an impression in domestic cricket and prove that he is capable of scoring quickly – contrary to his perceived image.

The Saurashtra squad was announced yesterday. Himanshu Shah, the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) media manager, said, “Jaydev Shah named captain of the 15-member squad, who will play their first match against Maharashtra on March 31. Top two teams will qualify to play in Syed Mustaq Ali (all India T20 super league cum knock out tournament) which will be played in Rajkot from April 8,2014.”

Indian fans will hope that Pujara gets his chance for team India sooner rather than later, especially after witnessing the decline of Yuvraj Singh’s form.
