The Chhattisgarh Cricket Premier League 2025 season will be played between June 6 and June 15. All 18 matches of the tournament, set to be played in a T20 format, will be hosted by the iconic Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in New Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
As many as six teams will be competing in the upcoming second edition of the Chhattisgarh Cricket Premier League, namely Raipur Rhinos, Bilaspur Bulls, Raigarh Lions, Surguja Tigers, Bastar Bisons and Rajnandgaon Panthers.
Each of the six participating teams will face each other once in a round-robin format in a 15-match opening round cycle. The top four sides at the end of the league stage will qualify for the two semifinals.
The Raipur Rhinos team will start out as defending champions, considering they won the inaugural edition last year by defeating Bilaspur Bulls in a lop-sided final back in June 2024 last year.
After Ashish Chouhan (3-31) and Mayank Yadav (2-38) restricted the Bulls to 156-9 from 20 overs, Rhinos’ opener Anuj Tiwary (65* off 42) and No. 4 Harsh Sharma (57* off 36) smeared blistering half-centuries to steer their team to the winner’s podium with eight wickets and nearly four overs intact in the game.
On an individual note, Surguja Tigers’ Ashutosh Singh emerged as the leading run-scorer of the inaugural season with 359 runs from six innings. Raipur Rhinos’ Ashish Chouhan picked up the highest number of wickets with 15 scalps from seven outings at an impressive average of 13.67.
Nonetheless, IPL players like Shashank Singh and Ajay Jadav Mandal will serve as some of the biggest star attractions of the Chhattisgarh Cricket Premier League 2025 season. Shashank, who played a key role in taking the Punjab Kings franchise to their first IPL final in over a decade last month, will captain the Bilaspur Bulls team.
Ajay Mandal, an active Delhi Capitals player and CSK’s IPL 2023 winning star, will lead the Rajnandgaon Panthers franchise. Amandeep Khare will helm defending champions Raipur Rhinos and players like Saurabh Majumdar (Bastar Bisons), Rishabh Tiwari (Raigarh Lions) and Ashutosh Singh (Surguja Tigers) will serve as the three remaining captains of the competition.
