During his prolific career, Virender Sehwag went on to score six Test double hundreds which is the highest number of double centuries by any Indian in Test cricket, one more than the legendary Rahul Dravid. Needless to mention, Sehwag is the only Indian batsman to have scored two triple centuries in Test cricket.

Sehwag's innings of 284 runs in a single day against Sri Lanka at Mumbai in 2009 also made it the fastest 250 by any batsman in Test cricket. He also remains the second-highest scorer of 250-plus scores in Test history.

No one can ever forget the two sublime triple centuries scored by Virender Sehwag in Test cricket. If the triple century at Multan in 2004 was exceptional, the one at Chennai four years later was even better.

He also took five wickets against Australia in the third Test at Delhi in 2008. Sehwag thus holds the record of being the only player in Test match history to have scored two triple centuries and have taken a five-wicket haul in an innings in Test cricket - a record that bears ample testimony to Sehwag's all-round capabilities as a cricketer.

#2 Most Test runs in a day by an Indian

He made 284 runs in a single day

There was a time when Test cricket was supposed to be boring and openers were supposed to spend the better part of their innings leaving deliveries. Then arrived Virender Sehwag on the scene who completely revolutionised the perception of batting in Test matches.

On the second day of the 3rd Test against Sri Lanka at Mumbai in 2009, Sehwag unleashed his fury on the bowlers nonchalantly powering his way to an incredible 284 runs. He thus went on to create a record for the most number of runs scored by an Indian in a single day of a Test match. He later got out for 293 and fell agonisingly short of what would have been a third triple century for him in Test cricket.

Speaking about his innings, Sehwag later said, "I have no words to describe this. This innings is better than the one in Multan. I showed (a) lot of concentration and patience, I had a point to prove to myself."
