Alastair Cook – 2/10

Alastair Cook’s poor run of form continued as he could only manage 17 and 12 in this game. He hasn’t gone past the 30-run mark in this series.

Keaton Jennings – 3.5/10

Jennings was out for a duck in the first innings while trying to leave an in-dipper from Bumrah. He fared better in the second essay as he fought hard for his 36 and also shared a good partnership with skipper Joe Root.

Joe Root – 4.5/10

Root struggled in the first innings as he scored just 4. However, he looked in decent touch in the second innings as he made 48 and bailed England out of early trouble.

Jonny Bairstow – 1/10

Jonny Bairstow played as a specialist batsman in this game due to a finger injury. But he didn’t have a great game as he could only muster 4 runs in both innings combined.

Ben Stokes – 8/10

In both innings, Ben Stokes applied himself well with the bat but he couldn’t convert the starts (he made 23 and 30 in the two innings). Despite not being fully fit to bowl, Stokes created an impact in whatever he bowled. He took the important wicket of Rahane in the first innings and then added a couple more wickets in the second essay.

Jos Buttler – 8.5/10

Jos Buttler continued his rich vein of form as he made 21 and 69 in this game. That 69 in the second innings was a really important one in the context of the game as he helped England recover from 122/5.

Moeen Ali – 9.5/10

Moeen Ali had a terrific Test match. Runs in the first innings, wickets in both innings. He was the star performer for England. He scored a vital 40 in the first innings and took 9 wickets in this game.

Sam Curran – 9/10

Sam Curran was another game-changer in this game. In the first innings, his fantastic 78 helped England recover from 86/6 to 246. He once again proved to be a thorn in India’s flesh as he contributed once again in the second innings with 46. With the ball, he took one wicket each in the first and second innings.

Adil Rashid – 1.5/10

It was another lacklustre Test match for Adil Rashid. He had absolutely no impact with the ball and he didn’t contribute with the bat much either.

Stuart Broad – 6.5/10

Stuart Broad was England’s best pacer in this game. He took 4 wickets in the game but more importantly, in the first innings, he hung around with Curran and shared a vital 63-run stand.

James Anderson – 5/10

James Anderson looked out of sorts in the first innings as he returned with figures of 0/50. But in the second innings, he performed much better and looked in better shape as he took two early wickets.
