Hameed will fly back to India on Monday

England youngster Haseeb Hameed will prove himself as the ultimate team man when he flies back to India after a surgery on his finger to support his side in the last two Test matches of the series.

The gutsy young cricketer has flown back to England to get a plate inserted in his left-hand where he broke his little finger in two.

The 19-year-old will have the operation on Friday and after resting for the next two days he will be boarding a plane to Mumbai to cheer for his team as they try to work their way into a series deficit of 0-2 reports The Mirror.

He will be joining his family who are still enjoying their holiday in India, the country of their origin.

Hameed had already stunned the team with his courage while batting in the third Test in Mohali with the broken finger which is a fine example of his commitment to his national team.

At Mohali, Hameed could not open the innings due to his condition but had net sessions on the third day. The extent of the injury was unknown to the commentators then who lashed out at him saying, ”If he can bat at the nets, why can’t he open?”

He finally made his way out to the centre as a No. 8 batsman and surprised everyone with a stunning unbeaten 59.

An impressed Joe Root said: “The way he has held himself around the side has been remarkable. For a 19-year-old lad to come into this environment and be so composed and mature. It is great to see someone come in with that attitude.”

The courage showed by Hameed also impressed opposition skipper Virat Kohli who went to meet him personally after the game.

"He's a great prospect for England. He's definitely going to be a future star in all forms if he keeps persisting with his skill. I'm really impressed and that's why I patted him on the back. It was an innings full of character and something that you need to applaud,” Kohli said as quoted by ESPN.

Such has been his recent form since his debut that he now averages 43.80 after three matches with 219 runs. He has a highest score of 82.

Meanwhile, Hameed’s replacement, Keaton Jennings celebrated his call-up by blasting his way to a match-winning century as the England Lions chased down 175 to triumph over UAE in Dubai.
