Bangladesh made their world cup debut in 1999 and in their first tournament, they caused a huge upset by defeating Pakistan.

In 2003, they had a forgettable tournament as they did not win a single match, but in 2007, they had their first major world cup moment as they managed to reach the Super Eights stage defeating India on the way.
