ICC to present Test mace to Virat Kohli at the end of the Indore Test

India look good to win the ongoing Indore Test and take the series 3-0

The International Cricket Council (ICC) will present the ICC Test Championship mace to India captain Virat Kohli at the Holkar Stadium in Indore after the end of the third and final Test against New Zealand.

On behalf of the ICC, former India captain and ICC Cricket Hall of Famer Sunil Gavaskar will make the presentation immediately after the awards ceremony for the series.

India is assured of the top ranking, but will officially overtake Pakistan at the top of the table only when the rankings are updated at the end of the series.

The team regained the top ranking after winning the Kolkata Test against New Zealand last week by 197 runs. They were number one during the tour of West Indies, but the Men in Green won the fourth and final Test in their tour to England and India’s fourth Test versus the West Indies was severely impacted by rain, Pakistan went ahead of India and became the Number One ranked Test team.

Misbah Ul-Haq was presented with the mace in Lahore last month for achieving the feat.
