All-rounders: Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Shardul Thakur

Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya and Shardul Thakur form a fearsome trio of all-rounders in the lower-middle order.

While Hardik wasn't required with the ball and contributed only 1 run in the 1st ODI, his elder brother scored a match-winning fifty and bowled a decent spell on debut in the format. Thakur, on the other hand, has been regularly providing breakthroughs in the middle overs and at the death.

Their form will keep Washington Sundar out of the team for now.

Bowlers: Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna

A player who seems to be well and truly back to his best post an injury, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the leader of the bowling attack in the absence of Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah.

Bhuvneshwar has young Indian quick Prasidh Krishna for company. The 25-year-old registered the best-ever figures by an Indian bowler on ODI debut, and turned the match on its head after an expensive opening spell.

The final spot in the Indian playing XI for the 2nd ODI is likely to be taken up by Kuldeep Yadav. The left-arm wrist-spinner is in dreadful form and is clearly low on confidence.

There is a case to replace him with Yuzvendra Chahal, but England have a few left-handers in Ben Stokes, Sam Curran, Moeen Ali and Eoin Morgan/Dawid Malan (depending upon fitness). As a result, we might see Kuldeep being given one final chance in the XI.
