After the first T20 loss, hosts India were under the pump to stage a fightback to keep the series alive. What better stadium than M Chinnaswamy to fight it out? The batting paradise was back to its true self and batsmen were itching to have a go. Australia won the toss and put India to bat first.

KL Rahul continued his fine form from the first match and played some flamboyant strokes up front. It was Virat Kohli- MS Dhoni show which scripted the first innings tale. Kohli got into his groove from the start and played till the end. However, it was Dhoni who was at his vintage best, and the duo posted a competitive total on the board.

In reply, Australia was jolted early with Vijay Shankar and Sidharth Kaul getting early breakthroughs for India. Luckily, Glenn Maxwell and Darcy Short came to rescue for Australia with an excellent partnership. And Maxwell eventually won it for Australia with a counter-attacking century. Australia won the T20 series and handed Kohli his first ever series loss at home as captain across formats.

Here are the three reasons why India lost the match.

#1 Maxwell - Short partnership

When Australia was two-wickets down, everybody thought the match was in India's favour. But, Maxwell and Short had other ideas. The duo counter-attacked effortlessly and put the pressure back on India with a 70 runs partnership for the third wicket.

Honestly, Indian bowlers had no clue at the rampage from Maxwell. India tried everything they could to stop Australia, but in the end, they were too good and deserved to win the match and series. Australia would hope Maxwell will continue the same form throughout the year and help them win the world cup trophy. This was the main reason why India lost the match.

#2 Five bowlers combination

Honestly, five exact bowlers in a T20 match is too much risk for any captain. Most teams always prefer having multiple bowling options to operate in the middle overs. But, India stuck to their five-bowler theory and lost the match.

If any bowler has a bad day on the field, a captain needs a sixth bowler to help control the damage. With only five bowlers, a captain has no other option to complete the quota of overs even though the bowler is going for plenty of runs.

Had India played another spare all-rounder in place of a proper batsman, he could have come in handy to reduce the burden and ease the tension of another bowler. Frankly, Kohli needs to look at 6-7 bowling options in his playing eleven. India's star spinner Chahal conceded 47 runs in 4 over and the fast bowler Siddarth Kaul conceded 45 runs. Indian captain not had much options to go for the sixth bowler.

#3 Short boundaries and due factor

The cricket ground at Bengaluru is known for its batting friendly wickets. The batsmen from all over the world enjoy batting at Bengaluru because of its true nature where one can play his shots all around the ground. Moreover, the boundaries are too small, and the ball travels a lot at the Chinnaswamy stadium.

Even a 200 score is not safer on a true Bengaluru wicket. Almost 8 out of 10 matches were won by chasing side. Today, unfortunately, India was at the receiving end even though India had posted a good total of 192 on the board. Moreover, the dew factor made is even worse for Indian bowlers to grip well and bowl as per the plans. With the series already in Australia's favour, India would look up to salvage some pride by playing well in ODI series.
