What's the story?

MS Dhoni has become the first Indian to record 350 sixes in international cricket. With three sixes in his innings of 40 from just 23 where he portrayed a fearless brand of cricket, India's talisman achieved the prestigious feat.

In case you didn't know...

Before today's game, Dhoni and Rohit had 349 sixes in international cricket. Australia won the toss and put India to bat first.

India had rested Rohit Sharma, and hence Dhoni had a bright chance to become the first Indian to hit 350 sixes in international cricket.

Meanwhile, India were off to a great start with Rahul's blistering innings. He smashed two consecutive sixes, twice in the innings and finished with 47 runs in 26 balls. They ended on a massive 191 of their 20 overs.

The heart of the matter

Dhoni came to bat when India lost the wicket of Pant. In the 13th over, the veteran sent Short for a six. He went down on his knee and clubbed the ball over over deep mid- wicket, thus becoming the first Indian to smash 350 sixes in International cricket.

He is also the first Indian to have mustered 300 sixes. In this process, Dhoni also smashed his 50th Six in T20 internationals. Dhoni played a brilliant cameo and scored 40 runs in 23 balls, including three massive sixes.

He smashed all three of his sixes off D'Arcy Short's bowling. Kohli, on the other hand smashed his 20th fifty in T20 internationals. He scored 72 runs in 38 balls, including six maximums. Kohli also smashed three consecutive sixes off Coulter-Nile, as India went on to rack up 91 runs in their last six overs.

What's next?

Rohit Sharma, who is likely to be back in the ODI series, is expected to become the second Indian to achieve the 350 sixes landmark in international cricket. The five-match ODI series between these two will begin in first week of March, on the 2nd.

At the moment, with this being the last ODI series for the Men In Blue ahead of the much-awaited World Cup, we can expect more experiments from them.
