India vs New Zealand, 4th ODI: Clinical Kiwis crush India by 8 wickets

Thanks to Trent Boult fiery spell, New Zealand crushed India by 8 wickets in the 4th One Day International played at Hamilton on Thursday. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss and decided to field first. A superb bowling effort by New Zealand seamers helped them bowl out India for a low total. The Kiwis then chased down the target with ease.

Put into bat, the Indian openers, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma, got the team off to a steady start. Trent Boult got the breakthrough in the sixth over as he dismissed Shikhar Dhawan for 13 runs. Boult troubled the Indian batsmen with his swing and dismissed Rohit Sharma for seven runs. India was reduced to 32 for 2 at the end of 10 overs.

It was a great bowling spell by Colin de Grandhomme and Trent Boult, who created havoc among the Indian batsmen. Ambati Rayudu, Dinesh Karthik, and Kedar Jadhav all went cheaply. Shubman Gill, who made his ODI debut, scored just nine runs. India was reduced to 40 for 7 in 16.4 overs.

Hardik Pandya played some lovely strokes before Trent Boult dismissed him for 16. Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal added 25 runs for the ninth wicket. Yuzvendra Chahal remained not out on 18 as India were bowled out for a paltry total of 92 runs in just 30.5 overs.

Chasing the target, Martin Guptill played some lovely strokes in the first over before Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed him for 14. Kane Williamson looked in good touch and added 25 runs for the second wicket with Henry Nicholls. New Zealand scored 51 for 2 at the end of 10 overs. Ross Taylor and Henry Nicholls showed their class as the duo added 54* runs for the third wicket. New Zealand won the match by 8 wickets with 212 balls to spare.
