India vs West Indies 2019: Mumbai and Hyderabad switch dates for T20I series
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has switched the opening match of the India versus West Indies T20I series to Hyderabad, which will take place on 6th December. Mumbai will host the third and final T20I on the 11th December at the Wankhede Stadium.
The shift happened as Mumbai Police depicted their inability to provide sufficient security on 6th December. It is observed as the anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition and also the commemoration day of BR Ambedkar, also known as 'Mahaparinirvan Din.'

A senior official from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) revealed the swap of dates approved by the BCCI.
"The BCCI has agreed to swap the dates of the Mumbai (6th December) and Hyderabad (11th December) games. We were able to carry out the swap after HCA president Mohammed Azharuddin agreed."
Sources revealed that former Indian skipper and the president of Hyderabad Cricket Association, Mohammad Azharuddin had a vital role in agreeing with the shift. Or else the venue could have got changed from Mumbai.
The last time a T20I took place in the Wankhede Stadium was between India and Sri Lanka on 24th December, 2017. The fourth ODI between India and West Indies last year also got shifted to Brabourne Stadium due to managerial issues at the MCA.Published 23 Nov 2019, 01:20 IST
