India vs West Indies, Day 2: Quick Flicks

Star
Sachin 200

Amidst the emotions and anxiety pouring out of the last international match of the legendary Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, a few other interesting moments took place in the match on Day 2. A sneak peak of these:

1. Sachin scores 74:

Sachin scored a well-constructed innings of 74 runs from 118 balls comprising 12 fours. But to the disappointment of his fans, he got out before getting to his century. As he left he got a standing ovation from the crowd, salutes, bows, whistles, claps – whatever the fans could give him, they did.

2. Pujara shows his class:

After the legend Sachin Tendulkar got out, Pujara continued the innings with Kohli. Both of them showed their class as Kohli scored half a ton, in fact, 57 runs off 78 balls with 5 fours, but it was Pujara who stole the show with a brilliant ton of 113 off 167 balls with 12 fours. Both of them were sent to the pavilion by Shillingford who broke the Indian middle order.

3. Rohit continues his charm:

After Pujara, Kohli and Dhoni got out in quick succession, it was Rohit Sharma who took on the duty of providing India an appreciable lead. He batted with the tail, mostly with Shami the No. 11 batsman. The duo went on to score 80 runs out of which Sharma contributed 69 runs and Shami contributed 11. Rohit managed to score a ton in his 2nd match to become the second Indian and the fifth Batsman in the world to score consecutive centuries after making a debut.

4. Shillingford grabs another 5-wicket haul:

5. Best strives hard:

Tino Best bowled really hard but he was guilty of being too optimistic. There was even an occasion where he went up to Sachin and tried to sledge him. But the master who has seen such incidents for 24 years, treated it as a friendly gesture. Finally, Best got Dhoni’s wicket.

6. Sammy also gets a 5-wicket haul:

Darren Sammy also grabbed a 5-wicket haul but not by bowling but by fielding in the slip cordon. He grabbed a total of 5 catches which included Vijay, Tendulkar, Kohli, Bhuvaneshwar and Dhoni. Among all of these, the best one was Sachin Tendulkar’s catch which was a complete blinder. But stunningly, as he took the catch, Sammy looked upset as the Master was out.

7. History repeats:

Just like Sachin Tendulkar who was a ball boy for the 1983 cricket World Cup, his son Arjun Tendulkar was seen as a ball boy in his father’s 200th and last Test match. Also, Aamir Khan came in wearing the same T-shirt which he felt was lucky for Sachin. The other celebrities spotted were Hrithik Roshan, Rahul Gandhi, Yuvraj Singh and Neeta Ambani.
