The Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore will play host in the 50th match of the VIVO IPL 2016 between home team Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab on Wednesday. RCB have been in rampaging form in the last couple of matches as they thrashed Gujarat Lions and Kolkata Knight Riders. KXIP, however, have not had a great season and have fallen out of contention for the playoffs already. The Challengers will need to win this match in order to boost their chances to qualify for the playoffs. The Kings, on the other hand, will want to finish their tournament on a high with a couple of win under their belt.

Let's take a look at the team which is likely to play for RCB:

Batting

The RCB batting line-up has been on fire in the 2016 IPL with skipper Virat Kohli leading the list of top run-scorers. The ace batsman has already scored 752 runs, a record for the most runs in an IPL season, at an average slightly below 84. AB de Villiers has also been in incredible form and has a tally of 597 runs from 12 innings with a phenomenal strike rate of 173.54.

Wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul has been quite the surprise package for Bangalore as he has scored 332 runs at an average of over 55, including 4 half-centuries so far. Chris Gayle, too, struck form after a few poor outings as he hit a brisk 49 in his team's previous match. The other batsmen in the team haven't had much of a role to play till now.

All-rounders

Royal Challengers Bangalore's ace all-rounder this season has been new signing Shane Watson. The Australian has been their leading wicket-taker in the tournament and has also managed to score some quick runs late in the innings. Stuart Binny has played quite a number of matches but hasn't exactly lived up to the all-rounder tag.

Bowling

Watson has performed quite well with the ball and picked up 14 wickets in 12 matches. Also, Yuzvendra Chahal has made a strong comeback after being a bit off in his first few games. The leg-spinner has claimed 12 wickets in 9 games so far with best figures of 3 for 19 and an economy rate of under 8 per over.

Pacer Sreenath Aravind has been decent in the 5 matches he has played with 6 wickets thus far. England's Chris Jordan had bowled quite poorly in his first few matches but pulled things back pretty well in the match against Gujarat Lions with exceptional of 4 for 11. Varun Aaron has not done too well, though, with just 2 wickets and an economy rate of over 9.

Probable Playing XI

Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli (c), AB de Villiers, Lokesh Rahul (wk), Shane Watson, Sachin Baby, Stuart Binny, Chris Jordan, Sreenath Aravind, Yuzvendra Chahal, Varun Aaron.

Kings XI Punjab
KXIP have struggled for their second season on the trot

Here's the likely team that may represent KXIP in the match:

Batting

The Kings XI Punjab batting has depended a lot on new skipper Murali Vijay to produce the goods and he is their leading run-scorer this year with 387 runs till now. Wriddhiman Saha has done reasonably well and has a tally of 243 runs with 2 half-centuries against his name. All-rounder Marcus Stoinis, too, has been decent with the bat with 146 runs in 5 innings.

Hashim Amla, who has come in as a replacement for Shaun Marsh, scored 96 in his team's previous match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Star batsmen Glenn Maxwell and David Miller have been the biggest disappointments for Punjab this season as they have scored 179 and 151 runs respectively.

All-rounders

Stoinis has been the best all-rounder for KXIP in the ninth edition of the IPL with close to 150 runs and 8 wickets against his name. Axar Patel has also performed quite decently with some quick runs in the lower order and also a number of wickets. Gurkeerat Singh Mann is another all-rounder to have played this season but has not done much of note.

Bowling

Pacers Sandeep Sharma and Mohit Sharma have been the stars in the bowling department with 13 and 12 wickets respectively. The former has also been the most economical bowler for Punjab, having conceded his runs at 7.16 per over. Patel has also impressed to quite an extent with 11 wickets so far and an economy rate of just over 7.

Marcus Stoinis has also done a very decent job in the 7 matches he has played and recorded the best figures by a KXIP bowler of 4 for 15. Leggie KC Cariappa was unable to make much of an impact in the few matches that he featured in. None of the other bowlers have done too well for the Kings this season.

Probable Playing XI

Murali Vijay (c), Hashim Amla, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Marcus Stoinis, David Miller, Farhaan Behardien, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Axar Patel, Anureet Singh, Sandeep Sharma, Mohit Sharma.
