In a very crucial game, Dinesh Karthik put in Mumbai Indians to bat first and the Mumbai-based franchise got to a good start but lost the openers in quick succession.

After the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav, in came Ishan Kishan who scored a 21-ball 62 and built a partnership of 82 runs from just 34 balls with Rohit Sharma.

After Ishan Kishan got out, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya followed the suit trying to up the ante.

Ben Cutting and Krunal Pandya gave the perfect end to the innings as they scored 24 off 9 balls and 8 off 2 balls respectively. With the final flourish, MI ended with a score of 210/6 in 20 overs.

Chasing a mighty target of 211, Kolkata Knight Riders lost Sunil Narine of the second ball of the innings.

From there on, KKR did not recover at all as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. The biggest partnership in KKR's innings was of 28 runs for the second wicket describes how bad a situation KKR were in.

In the end, Kolkata Knight Riders were bowled out for 108 and Mumbai Indians have won the match by 102 runs and now climb to the fourth position on the points table.

The margin of the win helps Mumbai's chances to get into the playoff as the NRR for MI after the win is +0.529, the best in the tournament.
