Left unsold in 2017 and 2018 at a base price of 50 lakh, left-arm paceman Sheldon Cottrell has come a long way since. He finished as the top-wicket taker for West Indies with 12 wickets at the World Cup 2019 in England and Wales. His stupendous one-handed catch at the boundary to dismiss Steven Smith demonstrated the kind of athletic ability he possesses.

Cottrell made it to the West Indies team way back in 2013 when he played his first game against India at the Eden Gardens. Subsequently, he played his debut matches in T20I and ODI cricket in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

In 16 T20Is, Cottrell has 24 wickets at an impressive average of 18.54. Playing for St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in CPL 2019, he stands sixth in the top-wicket taker's list with 12 scalps in eight games at an average of 19.25.

From 2013 to 2019, Cottrell has played 50 CPL matches in total, taking 69 wickets at an average of 19.33, to stand fifth in the all-time top-wicket takers' list in CPL.

With his theatrical celebrations, nipping lines and lengths and athletic fielding attributes, Cottrell might end up at the top of the buyers' list in the forthcoming IPL auctions.
