The KPL fixing saga gets murkier.

The KPL fixing saga is getting serious by the day as yet another arrest was made by the Karnataka police. Sudhindra Shinde, a management committee member of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) was arrested after questioning him post a raid on his house in the Indiranagar area of Bengaluru.

The police interrogated Shinde on charges of being part of the illegal betting and fixing of matches in the Karnataka Premier League. Shinde, who runs a cricket club, is the coach of KPL team Belagavi Panthers. As quoted by The Hindu, a police officer said:

“We took him in for questioning following the raid. Shinde ran a cricket club in Jayanagar and would select players from there for KPL teams. Shinde, too, is part of the racket.”
“Shinde along with Ali Ashfaq Tara had allegedly fixed a few matches.”

Shinde joins a long list of players and coaches who have been arrested in relation to the KPL fixing saga. Interestingly, the owner of Belagavi Panthers, Ashfaq Ali Thara, was the first one to be arrested by the Crime Branch.

Shinde joins the other eight suspects who have been arrested - Bengaluru Blasters players Nishant Singh Shekhawat and M Vishwanath, Bengaluru Blasters's bowling coach Vinu Prasad, Bellary Tuskers captain CM Gautam, spinner Abrar Kazi, drummer of Belagavi Panthers Bhavesh Bafna and international bookie Sayyam Gulati.
