KPL Points Table 2019

The Karnataka Premier League is based on the Indian Premier League that focuses on bringing out the best cricket talent from the state of Karnataka. It is the first local cricket league in India and is administered by Karnataka State Cricket Association. So far, there have been 7 editions of the Karnataka Premier League out of which only Bijapur Bulls have managed to win it twice. With the new KPL season starting soon, the teams will battle for the top four spots in the KPL Points Table 2019.

KPL Points Table - A summary of previous years standings


The first season of the Karnataka Premier League was held in 2009 which crowned Provident Bangalore as the first champion of the league. A total of eight teams faced each other in the league and Bangalore Brigadiers, Provident Bangalore, Bijapur Bulls and Belagavi Panthers stood at the top of the KPL Points Table with 12, 10, 8 and 8 points respectively. Bijapur Bulls stood at the third place due to its better Net Run Rate of +0.217.

The second season of the Karnataka Premier League was held in 2010 in which the KPL got its new champion, Mangalore United. The top teams in the Karnataka Premier League Points Table in this season were Shamanur Davangere Diamonds, Provident Bangalore, Malnad Gladiators and Mangalore United with 11, 8, 8 and 7 points respectively. Provident Bangalore again stood the runner up, after losing in the finals for the second time in a row.


The third edition of the Karnataka Premier League took place after a huge gap in 2014, which had only 7 teams. The teams at the top of the KPL Points Table in this season were Bijapur Bulls, Mangalore United, Mysuru Warriors and Belagavi Panthers with 10, 10, 8 and 6 points respectively. The final was played between Mysuru Warriors and Belagavi Panthers in which the Mysuru Warriors emerged victorious, claiming their first ever KPL title.


The next season of the Karnataka Premier League was held in 2015, in which the number of teams was again increased to eight. The teams that came out to be at the top four positions in the Karnataka Premier League Points table were Belagavi Panthers, Bijapur Bulls, Hubli tigers and Mangalore United with 11, 11, 9 and 8 points respectively. The Bijapur Bulls and Hubli Tigers eventually faced each other in the finals and bijapur Bulls lifted the KPL trophy.


The fifth season of the league again saw a total of eight teams battling each other in a round robin format to be at the top of the KPL points table. However, the teams that came out to be at the top were Mysuru Warriors, Hubli Tigers, Belagavi Panthers and Bellary tuskers with 14, 10, 8 and 8 points respectively in the league stage. The Bellary Tuskers eventually won the league after defeating the Hubli Tigers in the finals.


The sixth season of the Karnataka Premier League again witnessed a cut in the team count and featured only seven teams. However, no adverse effect was recorded apart from lesser matches in the league. The teams that remained at the top of the Karnataka Premier League Points table at the end of the league stage were Hubli Tigers, Bijapur Bulls, Namma Shivamogga and Belagavi Panthers with 8, 8, 8 and 7 points respectively. The Net Run Rate of the top three teams was +0.203, -0.098 and +1.209 respectively. The Belagavi panthers won this season after defeating the Bijapur Bulls in the finals.


The seventh season of the Karnataka Premier league, which was held in 2018 witnessed Bijapur Bulls becoming the first team to win a second title in the league. The top teams in the KPL points table after the league stage were Bengaluru Blasters, Hubli Tigers, Bijapur Bulls and Mysuru Warriors with 11, 9, 8 and 6 points respectively. The final match was played between Bijapur Bulls and Benagluru Blasters, who had finished last in the previous season.
