Latest ICC Test Rankings: Kohli, Pujara move down, Jadeja remains No.1

Ravindra Jadeja continued his meteoric rise while KL Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane also moved up.

Jadeja is the No.1 ranked Test bowler and No.2 ranked Test all-rounder

India might have retained their No.1 ranking in Tests but it wasn’t all good news for the batsmen. Cheteshwar Pujara, who was at his career-best ranking of No.2 has slipped down to No.4 while Virat Kohli has also moved down a place to No.5. Steve Smith remains the No.1 Test batsman after his century in the Dharamsala Test.

After his impressive century in the final Test against South Africa which was drawn due to rain, Kane Williamson jumps up to second place. Joe Root is third while Pujara and Kohli complete the top five. Quinton de Kock’s impressive fifty helped him climb up to No.5 while David Warner slipped even further to No.9 after a forgettable series.

The other major winners as far as batting is concerned is Indian opener KL Rahul, who climbed up to 11th place after an incredible series in which he scored fifties in six of the seven innings that he batted in. Ajinkya Rahane also moved up three spots to No.14 which makes it four Indians in the top 15.

As far as the bowlers are concerned, it is as you were as Ravindra Jadeja retained his No.1 ranking but couldn’t get past the 900 rating mark. He is on 898 points and completing a 1-2 at the top of the bowler's rankings is Ravichandran Ashwin, who gained three points to finish at 865. Umesh Yadav climbed five places and is now in 21st spot.

There were no other major changes in the top five as Rangana Herath, Josh Hazlewood and James Anderson retained their No.3, No.4 and No.5 spots. In fact, the only other major change in the top is towards the end. Kagiso Rabada leapfrogged Dale Steyn into seventh spot to become the highest ranked South African Test bowler while Neil Wagner is in ninth place while Mitchell Starc rounds off the top ten.

In the all-rounders rankings, Shakib Al Hasan remains at No.1 but there is a change at No.2. After his fifty in the final Test to go along with his four wickets in the final Test at Dharamsala, Ravindra Jadeja overtakes Ravichandran Ashwin into second place while the rest of the top five remain as they were.
