The ODI series between India and Australia is all set to commence from January 12th, 2019 (Saturday). After a terrific performance in the Test Series, India will look to carry the momentum into the One-day internationals and come back home with two trophies.

The series opener on the 12th of January will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground. It is worth noting that against Australia on Australian pitches, there is one Indian batsman, who has scored more runs than any other batsman.

In terms of the number of runs scored against Australia on Australian soil even former batsman, Sachin Tendulkar, is way behind India's Hitman- Rohit Sharma.

A total of 16 games for Rohit Sharma in Australia

Against Australia at their home, the stylish Indian opener has scored the most number of runs. Between 2008 and 2016, Rohit has played a total of 16 ODIs and scored 805 runs in total.

No other Indian batsman has been as successful as Rohit Sharma Down Under. Indian think-tank and fans would be hoping the Rohit Sharma continues his good run of play in Australia and provides India with solid starts at the top of the order.

On the 12th of January 2016, in the ODI played at Perth, Rohit scored an unbeaten 171 which remains his highest score in Australia.

Sachin is in the second place in terms of most runs by an Indian in ODIs on Australian pitches. From 1991 to 2012, Sachin played 25 ODIs in Australia and has a total tally of 740 runs, which is less than that of Rohit Sharma. In the Australia-India encounter played in Sydney in March 2008, Sachin had scored an unbeaten 117, which is his highest score in Australia.

However, it is a different debate altogether that wickets in Australia and Australian bowling attack has gone through a lot of change over the years and it won’t be fair to compare the statistics of the two batsmen.

Although the fact remains the whenever India have done well in Australia in the recent past, Rohit has been amongst the runs and after the birth of his daughter, Rohit would like to celebrate it with some daddy hundreds that he is known for.
