New Zealand vs India 2019: Top 3 Kane Williamson knocks against India
#1 118 – Delhi (2016)
Williamson has only one ton against India in ODI cricket and it came in difficult conditions and tough circumstances. After being 0-1 down in the series, the five-match ODI series in 2016 moved to the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. A sluggish pitch greeted the teams and the Kiwis were in trouble early.
Martin Guptill was out on the second ball of the innings and the onus fell on Williamson to steady the ship. Along with Tom Latham, he resurrected the Kiwi innings and stitched a 120-run partnership with the left-hander. However, after the dismissal of Latham, New Zealand lost wickets at regular intervals but Williamson stood firm. He kept the innings going and kept the scoreboard moving.
He notched up his first ton against India as he motored along and his innings helped New Zealand reach a competitive total. He scored a patient and a fighting 118 as the Kiwis posted 242 on a sluggish pitch. On a pitch where no other batsmen from either side got past the 50-run mark, he scored an excellent ton, showcasing his class and temperament.
New Zealand won a close game (by 6 runs) and Williamson was awarded the player of the match award.
