The Pakistani batters failed to get going in their 2023 World Cup clash against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.

Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to field first. The Men in Green were off to a decent start, with openers Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique forming a 41-run stand. Senior batters Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan also fought hard, scoring 50 and 49, respectively.

However, they suffered a collapse later in the innings, losing eight wickets for just 36 runs, and were ultimately bundled out for just 191 runs.

Following the innings, several fans took to social media to troll Babar Azam and company for their underwhelming performance with the bat.

For India, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mohammed Siraj picked up two wickets each.

"I was hoping to make him play a bad shot" - Kuldeep Yadav on bowling to Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan

Mohammad Rizwan was Pakistan's last hope after Babar Azam's dismissal. While the keeper-batter did toil hard for his 49 runs, he failed to convert it into a big score.

India's left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav stated that he was trying to get Rizwan to hit a false shot. He also pointed out that it was not an easy wicket to bowl on, given its slow nature.

Kuldeep, who dismissed Saud Shakeel and Iftikhar Ahmed, explained during a mid-innings interview:

"I have been enjoying the World Cup. I knew where to bowl on this pitch. Difficult wicket to bowl on to be honest, it's on the slower side. They (Pakistan) were not trying too much, so kept it wicket to wicket varying my pace. First seven overs we didn't give too much width, they were not trying to do much. Rizwan didn't sweep me, I was hoping to make him play a bad shot. I have been watching him (Saud Shakeel) sweep a lot or the paddle, so I was trying to keep it wicket to wicket. Luckily I got him."

India need 192 runs to win and extend their seven-match winning streak against Pakistan in the ODI World Cups.
