Pakistan took on Ireland in the 36th match of the 2024 T20 World Cup on Sunday, June 16, at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida. It was the last match of the tournament for both teams.
Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl here. Ireland had a disaster of a start, losing six wickets for just 32 runs. Gareth Delany and Mark Adair added 44 runs for the seventh wicket and helped Ireland cross the 50-run mark. Delany was the highest scorer and made 31 runs off 19 deliveries.
Ireland scored 106 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Shaheen Afridi and Imad Wasim took three wickets each for Pakistan. Mohammad Amir shined with two wickets for 11 runs in four overs, including a maiden over.
During the chase, Pakistan lost half of their wickets by the time they crossed the 50-run mark. However, Ireland didn’t have a substantial total on the board. and hence, Pakistan crossed the line in 18.5 overs with three wickets in hand. Babar Azam remained unbeaten on 32 runs off 34 deliveries. Afridi won the Player of the Match award.
