ICC T20 World Cup Sub Regional Europe Qualifier B 2024 Points Table: Updated standings after Belgium vs Serbia, Match 17

The 2024 ICC T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Europe Qualifier B was at the receiving end of rain as the 15th game of the tournament between Germany and Slovenia was abandoned without a ball being bowled. The 16th match between Croatia and Jersey also had to be shelved, courtesy of rain.

Meanwhile, the 17th fixture of the qualifiers was a rain-hit affair too. But thankfully, the game between Belgium and Serbia was only reduced to a 15-over side play, with the former winning the encounter by 77 runs.

Jersey are atop Group A of the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier B after their game against Croatia was abandoned earlier in the day. Jersey have accumulated seven points in four games and boasts an impressive net run rate of +7.333.

Croatia, with two wins in three games, are second in Group A with five points and a net run rate of +1.025.

Belgium, after their win over Serbia, are in third place with four points, while Switzerland have two points in three games and see themselves in fourth place. Serbia have had a sorry qualifier so far as they have lost all four of their games and are fifth in Group A.

Norway top the Group B standings with a perfect record of three wins in three games. They also have the best net run rate of +3.119 in the group and six points next to their name. Germany are second in Group B with two wins, one loss, and one draw. They have five points. Slovenia, after their draw against Germany, have oddly symmetrical figures in the points table as they occupy the third spot with three points in three games.

Sweden, with two points in three games, are in the fourth position, while Gibraltar, without a win, languish in the fifth spot.

Belgium handed hapless Serbia their fourth loss in a row

After the first couple of qualifiers were washed out, the game between Belgium and Serbia was reduced to a 15-over-a-side affair. Belgium batted first and posted a massive 179/5 in 15 overs, thanks to contributions from Muhammad Muneeb (54 off 39), Mansoor Malangzai (28 off 16), Burhan Niaz (35 off 15), Saber Zakhil (36 off 12), and Khalid Ahmadi (16 off 5).

In reply, Serbia could only manage 102/3 in 15 overs, with Belgium winning the game by 77 runs. Simo Ivetic (49* off 43) and Braithyn Michael Pecic (36* off 33) top-scored for Serbia, while Khalid Ahmadi took two wickets for Belgium.
