Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah continued from where he left off on Day 1 against Sri Lanka and bagged his maiden Test five-wicket haul in India. The 28-year-old ended with stunning figures of 5/24 from his ten overs and deservedly led the Indian team back into the dressing room.

Jasprit Bumrah brilliantly set up wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella for his fifth wicket. Keeping the third man region open, the Indian team invited Dickwella to play his favorite ramp shot.

Bumrah banged the ball short and that got Dickwella, who was trying to guide it towards the vacant third man region, into an awkward position. The southpaw couldn't quite get his gloves out of the way and it was a simple catch for Rishabh Pant.

Jasprit Bumrah's brilliance hands India a massive lead

India did a great job of scoring 252 in their first innings on a wicket that was turning square. Counter-attacking knocks from Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer should have given the visitors a fair idea of how to approach their innings on this rank turner.

However, as the lights turned on late on Day 1, the Sri Lankans were presented with an exhibition of top quality fast bowling. Jasprit Bumrah swung the ball both ways and got the important breakthroughs of Kusal Mendis and Lahiru Thirimanne, edging to the slip cordon.

Mohammed Shami too got into the act and the two Indian pacers tormented the visitors. Angelo Mathews showed some resistance but Bumrah's brilliance sent the experienced batter packing too.

On Day 2, Bumrah wasn't getting the same amount of swing and movement that he got late on Day 1. However, the 28-year-old changed his plans and began to bowl short, making it highly uncomfortable for the Sri Lankan batters to tackle him.

The wickets of Lasith Embuldeniya and Dickwella helped Bumrah bag his maiden fifer in Tests in India. The hosts can now dictate the tempo of the Test, having already amassed a huge lead of 143 runs going into their second innings.
