The Sri Lankan cricket board agreed to play a three-T20I bilateral series against India after the hosts’ series against Zimbabwe got cancelled. The seventh ranked T20I side will be playing the series in India in January 2020.
History
So far, 16 Ind vs SL T20I games have been conducted. India have won 11 of them while the Sri Lankan cricket team have managed to win the remaining 5. The hosts for the upcoming series enjoy a winning percentage of 68.75. They enjoy an even better percentage in matches that were played in India. They have won 6 out of 8 India vs Sri Lanka T20Is.
The two teams will be facing each other in a T20I game after a gap of almost two years. They last faced each other in March 2018. In India, they last played a T20I in December 2017.
T20I series
The series will begin on 5 January with the first game being played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The teams will then travel to the state of Madhya Pradesh for the second T20I on 7 January at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.
The third and final game of Sri Lanka in India 2020 series will be played after a gap of 2 days on 10 January 2020 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. The series is evenly poised as there is not much of a difference in their ICC team rankings in T20Is and the results can go either way.
