India will take on New Zealand in the first match of their 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday, October 4. The game will get underway at 7:30 PM IST. The Women in Blue have been placed in Group A, which also features Pakistan, Australia, and Sri Lanka.

India and New Zealand have met four times in the Women's T20 World Cup so far, with both teams winning two games each. India lost the first two matches they played against New Zealand in the ICC event. They went down by 52 runs in Nottingham in the 2009 semifinals and by 10 runs in Basseterre in 2010.

The Women in Blue, however, have tasted wins in their last two T20 World Cup meetings against the Kiwis. India beat New Zealand by 34 runs in Providence in 2018 and by three runs in Melbourne in 2020.

India won both their warm-up matches heading into the tournament. They beat West Indies by 20 runs and followed it up with a 28-run triumph against South Africa.

United Arab Emirates Women won the toss in this match and elected to bat first. However, they were bundled out for 66 in 18.3 overs as Mwatile, Victoria Hamunyela, and Kayleen Green claimed three scalps each. In the chase, Namibia Women eased home in 12.4 overs.
