The Royal Phantoms claimed an eight-run victory over the BLV Blasters in the 17th match of the Sher-e-Punjab T20 Cup 2024. The IS Bindra Stadium Mohali hosted the clash on June 18.
Meanwhile, the Trident Stallions successfully chased the target set but the Agri Kings Knights in the second game of the day. The Trident Stallions are currently leading the points table in the ongoing Sher-e-Punjab T20 Cup 2024 after Match 18. They have played six matches so far, winning five and losing one, with 10 points and a strong net run rate of +0.909.
The JK Super Strikers are second on the table with eight points from six matches and four wins under their belt. They have a net run rate of +0.516. The BLV Blasters occupy the third spot with six points, having won three out of their six games with a net run rate of +0.692.
The Agri Kings Knights are in the fourth spot with six points. Their record stands at three wins and three losses in six matches. They have a net run rate of -0.690. The Royal Phantoms are currently fifth, with two wins in six games, giving them four points on the table. Their net run rate is -0.593.
Meanwhile, it has been a tournament to forget so far for the Intersoft Titans. They have just registered one victory after six matches and languish at the bottom with two points and a dismal net run rate of -0.865.
Royal Phantoms defeat BLV Blasters by eight runs in Sher-e-Punjab T20 clash
Batting first after winning the toss, the Royal Phantoms posted a competitive 209/5 in their 20 overs against the BLV Blasters. Royal Phantoms openers Jaskaran Singh Paul and skipper Anmolpreet Singh gave their team a solid start. They scored 47 runs each at a strike rate of 156.67 and 123.68 respectively.
Useful contributions from Vaibhav Kalra (72 off 34) and Ridham Satyawan (29 off 15) helped the Phantoms set a challenging target. Aryan Mehra was the pick of the Blasters bowlers, finishing with 3/36 from his four overs. Chasing a daunting target of 210, the BLV Blasters got off to a solid start with Harnoor Singh top scoring with his 87 off 47 balls.
However, contributions from skipper Naman Dhir (39 off 24), Gurmehar Singh Sra (29 off 21) and Harpreet Brar (20 off 11) weren't enough. The Blasters narrowly missed out on the target, losing the game by eight runs. Sohraab Dhaliwal and Anmolpreet Singh took two wickets each for the Phantoms.
In the second match, the Agri Kings Knights elected to bat first. Batters Abhishek Sharma (85 off 47) and Madhav Pathania (21 off 13) made useful contributions as they posted a total of 184/7 in 20 overs. Ramandeep Singh took two wickets for the Trident Stallions.
In reply, the Trident Stallions overhauled the target with ease courtesy of a scintillating ton by Prabhsimran Singh (122 off 62 deliveries). The Stallions won the game by three wickets and an over to spare.
