Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese congratulated Team India's Virat Kohli on his Test century in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 in Perth. The interaction took place on Thursday, November 28, when the Indian players met Albanese at the Parliament House in Canberra.

A video surfaced on social media in which Albanese can be spotted interacting with Jasprit Bumrah and Kohli. During the conversation, the Australian PM spoke about Kohli getting a century in India's second innings of the Perth Test.

He can be heard saying:

"Good ton in Perth. As if we weren't suffering enough at that point."

Kohli responded by saying:

"Always got to add some spice."

The two shared a good laugh and Albanese proceeded to shake hands with other Indian players. Kohli remained unbeaten on 100 in Perth, notching up a Test century after a gap of 491 days.

The Jasprit Bumrah-led side registered a stunning 295-run victory in the encounter to go 1-0 up in the five-match series. Bumrah was adjudged the Player of the Match for bagging eight wickets across two innings.

"He could have a really big series" - Rahul Dravid backs Virat Kohli to shine in BGT 2024-25

Former India captain and head coach Rahul Dravid opined that Virat Kohli getting back to form in the Perth Test is an ominous sign for the visitors. He backed the seasoned campaigner to score big runs in the remaining matches of the BGT 2024-25.

Speaking about Kohli's form, here's what Dravid said during a chat with Star Sports:

"He's (Virat Kohli) been batting really well, even in South Africa six months ago when we are there, I thought he was batting really well on a couple of difficult wickets. It's just nice for him to be able to get that hundred at the start of the series. I think he could have a really big series."

The second Test of the BGT 2024-25 will be a pink ball Test. The match is set to be played in Adelaide, beginning on December 6. Ahead of the fixture, India A will play a two-day practice match against Prime Minister's XI in Canberra from November 30 onwards.
