India won their eighth consecutive ODI World Cup match against Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday, October 14. A combined team performance helped the Men in Blue maintain their 100% winning record against their neighbors.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl first. Pakistan started well and were 155/2 at one stage, but they collapsed and lost eight wickets for 36 runs. India received a target of 192 runs only, which they chased down in 30.3 overs.

Rohit Sharma led the team from the front with an 86-run knock. Shreyas Iyer completed his half-century with a four on the last ball of the match.

There were doubts over Shreyas Iyer's selection before the match. Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar had expressed his disappointment over Rohit Sharma's decision to pick Iyer over Ishan Kishan, but Iyer proved him wrong with a half-century.

He came out to bat at number four when the team's score was 79/2 after 9.5 overs. The right-handed batter added 77 runs for the third wicket with Rohit Sharma and then had an unbeaten 36-run fourth-wicket partnership with KL Rahul to help India win.

Iyer scored 53 runs off 62 balls, whacking three fours and two sixes.
