Team India skipper Rohit Sharma was irked by a reporter's question about the outside noise during the press conference to announce their 2023 World Cup squad on Tuesday. The right-handed batter hit back at the reporter, stating that they don't care about the outside noise as their objective is to lift the World Cup.

Rohit and chief selector Ajit Agarkar held a press conference to announce the much-awaited Indian squad for the 2023 World Cup. The 15-member squad is mostly similar to that of the Asia Cup 2023, with Tilak Varma, Prasidh Krishna, and Sanju Samson being the notable omissions.

Responding to the reporter's question, Rohit Sharma said:

"I have said this many times. We don't care outside the noise. Our job is not to see the outside atmosphere and play according to that. Every player in the team is a professional and have been through all these. So, I don't think it makes a huge difference."

Team India are currently playing in the Asia Cup 2023 tournament in Sri Lanka. They booked their berth in the Super Four stage of the competition after beating Nepal by 10 wickets (via DLS method) on Monday.

With the selectors taking some debatable calls, Rohit Sharma reckoned that some of the players are bound to be disappointed, given they have plenty of excellent players to choose from.

"There are no surprises and you can only get 15 in. Some of the guys will be disappointed," he continued. "I have gone through it and I know how it feels. We have good all-round options and this is best 15 we could get. I have not thought about plans yet."
"Problem of plenty is a good problem to have," he added. "We have to see who is in form and who our opposition is. We need to see what the best possible combination could be. If someone misses out, then so be it. This keeps happening. You have to make tough calls for the team."

India will open their campaign against Australia on October 8 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
