New Zealand's Trent Boult provided a flying start to his team against Bangladesh in the 2023 World Cup match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday, October 13. The ace pacer took the prized scalp of Bangladesh opener Litton Das, who departed for a golden duck.

The dismissal took place as Boult bowled an inswinger onto the pads. Das whipped it in the air behind the square on the leg side. Matt Henry, stationed at fine leg, completed the catch by jumping to perfection.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss and opted to bowl against Bangladesh in the 2023 World Cup match on Friday. The skipper returned to the side after missing the first two games against England and the Netherlands. He replaced Will Young in the playing XI.

At the toss, he said:

“We will bowl first, think it's a good surface. Nice to take part in those warm-up games and nice to be standing here. I am coming for Will Young.”

Meanwhile, Bangladesh made a solitary change as Madmudullah replaced Mahedi Hasan.

Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan said:

“Was a bit confused (about what to do), but we don't mind batting first. We didn't start well with bat and ball in the last two games and these are the two areas we are looking to improve. One change - Mahmudullah comes in for Mahedi.”

At the time of writing, Bangladesh were 46/2 after 10 overs, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Najmul Hossain Shanto at the crease. Tanzid Hasan was dismissed by Lockie Ferguson for 16 (17).

For the uninitiated, Bangladesh won their opening game against Afghanistan by six wickets before losing their second fixture against England by 137 runs. New Zealand, on the other hand, beat England and the Netherlands by nine wickets and 99 runs, respectively.
