India and Pakistan were involved in a two-match Test series in 1999. The first Test was held at Chennai and after three days of gripping Test cricket, India needed 271 runs to win the match.

India lost early wickets and struggled to score runs against the quality Pakistan bowling attack. India were down to 82-5 and it was the Master Blaster who was fighting the lone battle.

Sachin was determined and kept India in the hunt with incredible batting. He was running out of partners but continued to score runs. He was battling with back injury and finally reached his hundred.

Sachin was dismissed at 136 by Saqlain Mushtaq as India needed only 17 runs at that point. India lost the match by 12 runs and Sachin could not hold his tears in the dressing room. In fact, he did not come out of the dressing room to collect his Man of the Match award.
