Sachin Tendulkar feels that the current Test team can represent India for next 10 years

The Virat Kohli led Indian Test Team seems to have impressed legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, who sees the current team continuing the game for at least the next ten years, dominating world cricket.

Tendulkar, who is attending India’s 500th and 1st of the three Test-match series against New Zealand at Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium, described the current lot Indian players as "fabulous" and believes the core of the team will remain unchanged till the next decade.

Speaking to Star Sports after partaking in BCCI’s 500^th Test celebrations, the ‘Little Master’ said, “We have a fabulous combination. The best part about all these players is that they are young and they will play for a while. I see this team playing together for 8-10 years and dominating world cricket.”

Sachin Tendulkar has played at least 200 of India’s 500 Test Matches, and thus his take on the current team cannot be passed as only a praise, but a studied comment, which came after years of association with the game.

On the milestone occasion of the 500th Test, the iconic batsman said: “Being part of history, I would like to believe, we have also been able to influence the next generation and leave some impression behind.”

The 43-year old legend also emphasized on the need for the players to maintain their fitness level, and the team to not make many changes in their combinations.

"We have the firepower, balance is really nice. If we continue to stick to these players, obviously there will be few changes here and there, but if players are fit, in proper shape and condition, we have bright days ahead," he said.

Terming the pitch at Green Park as the “typical Kanpur pitch,” Tendulkar said that those said that a proper balance between bat and ball is needed in the game.

“There has to be a nice balance between bat and ball. The balance is not right as it’s too much in favour of batsmen, to be fair. In T20s, batters go after bowlers. 300 is no more a safe target in ODIs. There has to be a format, where bowlers dominate the bat,” he told Ravi Shastri

Whether the current squad can continue their game for another ten years or not seems a far-flung analysis. But whether they can regain the No. 1 spot on ICC’s Test Rankings can be analysed in another ten days.
