#4 Jonny Bairstow, Fastest to 2000 ODI runs by an England batsman

India v England - 4th One Day International
Jonny Bairstow's aggressive batting at the top order provides England with the required impetus

Jonny Bairstow, Egland's dynamic wicket-keeper batsman, has been one of the vital cogs in England's rejuvenation in ODIs post their disastrous 2015 World Cup campaign. His aggressive batting has been one of the strong points of this new dynamic-looking English batting setup. His ascent to the ODI vice-captaincy is only a reaffirmation of his indispensability in the limited overs format.

Bairstow currently has amassed 1856 runs in 48 ODIs and requires another 144 runs to go past 2000 ODI runs. Currently, Kevin Pietersen holds the English record for the fastest batsman to reach 2000 runs, having reached the mark in 51 ODIs. If Bairstow achieves the feat before the commencement of the 3rd ODI, he would well go past Pietersen's record to become the fastest Englishman to reach 2000 runs in ODIs.

In the course, Bairstow would also displace Pietersen as the third quickest batsman of all time to reach 2000 runs in ODIs, if he were to achieve the record. While it might be debatable whether Bairstow would go past the record, considering his form off late, one would be forgiven if he were inclined to think that Bairstow would go on to achieve this feat.
