Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has insisted that the expertise of former cricketers can be beneficial for the team.

“When you have players like Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar and Anil Kumble, their services can always be sought,” Ganguly said. “But it depends upon how much time they can devote. It’s an individual decision for every cricketer what he wants do in life. I think it should be left to them.”

“I’m sure you must have heard what Dravid said yesterday that he’s just ‘finished‘, it’d be difficult for him to be on the road for 11 months. Waqar was coach of Pakistan, you can ask him how tough it is,” he added.

Recently, Sunil Gavaskar had said that he would like to see Rahul Dravid taking up the job of coaching the national team.

“I’m not used to throwing my hat anywhere. I won’t be able to answer this question,” Ganguly added when asked whether he would be interested in taking up the job himself.
