Australia spoiled Tillakaratne Dilshan’s final game in international cricket as the visitors beat Sri Lanka by four wickets in the second T20I to claim the series 2-0. It was always going to be difficult for the hosts after they struggled with their batting and it was only made worse by Glenn Maxwell making batting look like a cake walk in the Australian innings.

Aside from Dhananjaya de Silva, who scored a fifty, none of the other Sri Lankan batsmen got going and thus they could only muster 128/9 in their quota of overs. It would have been much worse had their No.3 not brought up his career-best T20I score.

In reply, David Warner and Glenn Maxwell made a mockery of the target by adding 93 for the opening wicket inside nine overs. The star of the show was once again Glenn Maxwell for his 66. Although they lost a few wickets after that they got home with a six off Travis Head’s bat to seal the 2-0 series.

For 211 runs in two matches, which included knocks of 145* and 66, Glenn Maxwell walked away with the Man of the Match and Man of the Series award.

Here are some interesting numbers from the game:

1 – David Warner and Glenn Maxwell became the first Australian opening pair to record back-to-back fifty partnerships in their first two innings together.

1 – This is the first time that Australia have beaten Sri Lanka in successive T20I matches.

2 – On the list of most runs in a bilateral T20I series, Glenn Mawell’s 211 is second. Only Hamilton Masakadza who scored 222 runs in four innings against Bangladesh earlier in the year has more.

4 – Adam Zampa's figures of 3/16 are the fourth-best against Sri Lanka in T20Is. James Faulkner’s figures of 3/19 are the fifth-best while the best belongs to Stuart Clark’s 4/20 in 2007.

7 – Seven Sri Lankan batsmen were dismissed for single digits in the second ODI against Australia, which is the second-highest number of Sri Lankan batsmen getting dismissed for single figure scores at home.

10 – On the list of players with most international caps, Tillakaratne Dilshan finishes 10th with 497 international appearances for Sri Lanka across all formats. With 664 caps, Sachin Tendulkar leads this list.

13 – Sri Lanka have now lost 13 T20Is (out of 16) in 2016, which is the most by any team in a calendar year. Pakistan held the dubious record earlier, having lost 12 T20Is in 2012.

18 – Glenn Maxwell brought up his fifty off just 18 balls, which equals the Australian record for fastest T20I fifty. However, Yuvraj Singh (12 balls), Colin Munro (14 balls), Paul Stirling, Stephan Myburgh and Chris Gayle (17 balls) have all got there faster in T20Is.

80 – Tillakaratne Dilshan finishes his career having played 80 T20Is. Only Shahid Afridi with 98 has played more T20Is than the Sri Lankan batsman.

211 – Only Brendon McCullum (214) has more runs in two consecutive T20I innings than Maxwell’s 211.
