Stats: Batsmen with the most number of centuries in India vs Australia ODIs

Sachin Tendulkar (L) and VVS Laxman – two very different ODI careers but not quite so against Australia

Here is a list of batsmen with the most number of centuries in the One-Day international matches between India and Australia. As expected, with nine centuries, Sachin Tendulkar tops the list followed by Ricky Ponting.

Out of the 6 centuries scored by VVS Laxman, four have come against Australia. More importantly, he took the attack to the Australian side when they were at the top of their game and that too in a format which he was deemed unfit eventually before the selectors drew the curtains over his ODI career.

Just before he was axed, he averaged 41.85 in 25 ODIs at a strike rate of 79.79 in 2004. Considering that the Indian team had quite a few passengers when it came to fielding during those years, VVS Laxman, it looks like, was dealt a hard hand.
