The explosive left-handed batsman from West Indies, Chris Gayle, broke the record for most sixes in a bilateral ODI series in the recently concluded series against England. It was an amazing batting performance by Gayle who decimated England bowling line up in the whole series.

He finished as the leading run-getter in series with 424 runs from four completed matches with 2 half centuries and 2 centuries. It was a fitting farewell for Chris Gayle who has played his last ODI innings on West Indies soil.

In the first match at Barbados, Chris Gayle scored a brilliant 135 off 129 balls, which included three fours and 12 sixes. His efforts helped West Indies post a massive total of 360 for 8 in 50 overs. However, England won that match by six wickets.

Chris Gayle scored a cautious 50 off 63 balls in the second ODI match at Bridgetown, courtesy one four and four sixes. In a high scoring fourth ODI at Guyana on 27th February, chasing a mammoth target of 419 runs to win, the explosive batsmen from West Indies smashed 162 off 97 balls, which included 11 fours and 14 sixes. Despite Gayle’s effort, West Indies fell short of the target by 29 runs.

In the fifth and final ODI played at Gros Islet on 2nd March, chasing a paltry total of 114 runs to win, Chris Gayle scored 77 off 27 balls, which included 9 sixes. It helped West Indies win the match and level the series 2-2. He finished the ODI series with 39 maximums.

Gayle just made the batting look easy and created a lot of impact throughout the series. Rohit Sharma held the record with 23 sixes, which he struck 2013 bilateral series against Australia at home.
