India beat New Zealand by six runs in the third T20I at Thiruvananthapuram to claim the series 2-1. After losing the toss and getting to a below-par total in the rain-curtailed encounter, India still managed to get over the line thanks to some disciplined bowling by their pace duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

After being put into bat, India didn't get off to a great start in the eight-over contest. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma were dismissed in the space of two balls by Tim Southee. Ish Sodhi then produced another excellent spell as he finished with 2/13 in his two overs and although Virat Kohli, Manish Pandey and Hardik Pandya got into double digits, none of them got going. In the end, the hosts ended with just 67/5 from their eight overs.

In reply, Martin Guptill and Colin Munro were both dismissed in the space of four balls. After that, the rate continued to rise and New Zealand simply didn't have the answer. Especially against Yuzvendra Chahal, who conceded just eight runs in his two overs. Jasprit Bumrah picked up two wickets and conceded just 9 runs.

There was also two crucial run-outs from Hardik Pandya, who also bowled the last over and helped India get over the line.
