Brendon McCullum has now played the most consecutive Tests since debut

99- Number of successive matches Brendon McCullum has now played since his debut in 2004- It is a world record now of most consecutive Test matches since debut, previously held by Abraham de Villiers for his 98 consecutive tests. Ab de Villiers was granted paternal leave for the birth of his son and he missed two Test match series against Bangladesh- otherwise he would have led the table with 104 test matches now. Gilchrist’s 96 and Dravid’s 93 are placed at no. 3 and 4.

Hamilton- The Ground at which Brendon McCullum played his debut Test match against South Africa on 10 March 2004- he scored 76 in that match. He is playing his record-breaking match at the same ground.

4- Number of players above Bredon McCullum with most consecutive Tests not necessarily from debut- Alan Border (153), Alastair Cook (120), Mark Waugh (107) and Sunil Gavaskar (106) are the four players above McCullum (99).

64.75- the batting average of Angelo Mathews when captaining the side- which is in contrast to the 39.71 he holds when he is not captain. He has struck 6 centuries in 46 innings as captain and only 1 in 50 innings when not captain.

2005- The last time a Sri Lankan captain other than Mathews went past 50 runs in a Test innings in New Zealand- Marvan Atapattu scored 127 at Napier in April 2005- which is the only test century by a Sri Lankan captain on New Zealand soil. Mathews’ 63* in this match is the 4th highest score by a Sri Lankan captain in New Zealand.

0- Sri Lankan captains other than Mathews to hit more than 1 six in tests in New Zealand. Mathews has done it twice- 3 sixes in this match and 2 at Christchurch in December last year.

10- Number of sixes Angelo Mathews has hit in Tests against New Zealand- 2nd most for him against any team after Pakistan (11). New Zealand is the only team against which he has hit more sixes than tests played.

26- Number of sixes Mathews has struck in his test career when playing as captain- which are the most for any Sri Lankan Captain- Arjuna Ranatunga (25) and Jayasuriya, Jayawardene (19 each) are next on the list.

897 – Runs Dinesh Chandimal has scored in Tests this year- most among all Asian players in 2015. Angelo Mathews (829) and Younis Khan (789) are next on the list. Overall he is the 7th highest run-getter in tests this year.

110 – Fours struck by Chandimal in Tests this year- which are also the most by any Asian player in this year. His 7 fifty plus scores in this year are only joint equal to Misbah ul Haq’s 7 such scores in the Asian list.

21.80- Sri Lanka's opening stand’s average in the year 2015- which is 2nd worst after West indies' 14.50 (for this year). They have put on only 2 fifty-plus opening stands in 2015- 2nd fewest for any team this year after West Indies, who are yet to score their first.
