Many questions were being raised when Haris Sohail was picked in the squad ahead of Fawad Alam for the series against Sri Lanka in September 2017, as he had not played any first class cricket in last two years due to injury.
He silenced his critics with a gutsy knock of 76 in the first innings of the first Test match played at Abu Dhabi. He became the highest scorer for Pakistan at no.6 on Test debut.
He scored 34 in the second innings and also picked up 2 wickets in the match. However, Pakistan fell short of 22 runs while chasing 136 in the second innings of the match.
