What's the story?

Team India, on Sunday, finished the ODI series against New Zealand on a spectacular note. Continuing the exceptional form after an excellent Australian tour, the Men in Blue crushed the Kiwis by 4-1 to seal the five-match series.

Now, the next assignment for India is the three-match T20I series, which begins from Wednesday at Wellington. Ahead of the first match, wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant was seen trying some innovative shots in the nets.

In case you didn't know

The Indian cricket team is having a dream run at the moment. Kohli's men first outplayed Australia in both Test and ODI series and scripted history.

Soon after the conclusion of the tour down under, the confident Indian side continued their consistent run in New Zealand as well. They won the first three ODIs to seal the series. Although they lost fourth ODI, they once again pipped the hosts in the fifth one to end the series 4-1.

The heart of the matter

India has won four, while drawn one out of the last five T20I series. The Kohli-led team went close to winning the last T20 series against Australia as well but rain turned out to be the barrier in the decider.

As regular skipper Virat Kohli has been rested for the three-match T20I series, opening batsman Rohit Sharma will lead the side in his absence. The Mumbai-born cricketer has a good T20 captaincy record as apart from owning three IPL titles, Rohit has also led India very well as the team has won 11 out of 12 T20 matches that he has captained in.

Meanwhile, the team was seen hitting out at nets in Wellington ahead of the first match. In a video released on the official Twitter handle of BCCI, Rishabh Pant was seen trying innovative shots.

What's next?

India will surely enter as favourites in the T20Is as well, however, the Kiwis would be aiming a comeback in this series.
