World Cup 2019, Match 15: South Africa vs West Indies Match Prediction - Who will win today's match?

South Africa and West Indies have got off to contrasting starts in the tournament. The Proteas have lost each of their first three games of World Cup 2019 and another loss can put them on the brink of elimination. On the other hand, Windies have been rather impressive in the tournament till now. In the head-to-head count, South Africa lead their Carribean counterparts 44-19 but anything can happen today.

South Africa lost their first match of the tournament to England. Subsequent losses against Bangladesh and India have put them in a difficult spot. The Proteas desperately need some wins on the board to keep their hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals alive.

West Indies were fantastic in their first match of the tournament against Pakistan. In the second match, they had Australia on the mat but they failed to grab their chance. They still looked impressive in many phases and took the game till the end against the defending world champions. A win against South Africa will put their campaign back on track.

If South Africa bat first

The South African batting line up has failed to impress throughout the tournament. Even when the batsmen have got starts, they have failed to convert them into big scores.

Quinton de Kock and Faf du Plessis would be key for South Africa and one of them will have to post a big score. If the Proteas are able to build meaningful partnerships, they should be able to post a score of around 280-290.

If West Indies bat first

West Indies were let down by their batting in the match against Australia. Some batsmen must be kicking themselves for playing reckless shots when it was not needed.

If the batsmen can improve their shot selection, they can surely put a huge score on the board. West Indies must aim to post a score of around 330-340 in the first innings. The men from the Carribean were brilliant with the ball for most parts of the first two matches and should be able to defend a 300+ score.

Who will win the match?

West Indies are high on confidence, while South Africa are looking in poor shape. Jason Holder's men should be able to beat the Proteas today.
