Before the announcement of India’s World Cup squad, there was a tussle between Vijay Shankar and Ambati Rayudu for the No. 4 slot. In the end, Shankar got the nod because of his "three-dimensional" abilities as a cricketer.

In the meantime, almost everyone forgot the fact that Jadeja is also a three-dimensional player. Though his style of bowling might differ with Shankar, Jadeja is no mug with his bowling. Also, his bowling style would have also added another flavor to the Indian bowling attack.

Besides, Jadeja’s addition would have further strengthened the lower-order batting. His blistering innings against New Zealand in the semi-final is an example of his batting skills. He can also provide blazing cameos towards the end of the innings and can stabilize the innings, as he did in the warm-up match against New Zealand. As mentioned earlier, he would have contributed even more with his fielding skills.

Overall, Jadeja’s inclusion would have added much more balance to the side, allowing India to play an extra genuine batsman.
