Indian players celebrate fall of a Zimbabwe wicket

Having won the series already with two more matches to go, Indian management chose to rest Shikhar Dhawan and Vinay Kumar. Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to bowl first. Cheteshwar Pujara and Mohit Sharma made their ODI debuts for India, while Zimbabwe played the same eleven as the last match.

India pacers, Mohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami, started off very well capitalizing on the very little assistance the pitch had to offer. Zimbabwe were 5 down in 15.1 overs with only 47 runs on the board. Ravindra Jadeja was in the thick of these things as he picked up a couple of wickets and effected a run out too. Jaydev Unadkat and Mohit Sharma picked the other two.

With the top 5 failing once again, Malcolm Waller and Elton Chigumbura put together a 80 run partnership for the sixth wicket to help Zimbabwe cross three figure mark.

However, they were unable to make it count as Mohit Sharma returned in the 37th over to dismiss Waller for 35 runs of 77 balls before Amit Mishra ran through the tail, picking up three wickets, as the home team was reduced to 144 in 42.4 overs. Having scored 50 of 66 balls, Chigumbura remained not out.

As the play resumed, Pujara, who was promoted to open the innings along with Rohit Sharma, inside edged one from Tendai Chatara that uprooted his leg stump. But, Suresh Raina (66* of 71 balls), who came in at number 3 ahead of Kohli, and Rohit Sharma (64* of 90 balls) made short work of the chase as they put together a partnership of an unbeaten 123 runs of 128 deliveries to help India win the match by 9 wickets in 30. 5 overs.
