Technicians are a class of helpful NPCs in Stalker 2. These merchants can be a boon in the game's grounded and ruthless world. The sequel, released 15 years after its predecessor, Call of Pripyat, received acclaim for its immersive gameplay. While the state of Chornobyl was left barren after a second nuclear catastrophe, many different merchants and factions started inhabiting it alongside the supernatural anomalies, technicians are one of them.
These merchant NPCs help you repair armor and weapons. It's important to know which ones inhabit which regions, as these are quite rare to find and can be a massive help if you want to buff your weapons and armor to make your journey through Chornobyl less arduous.

What you should know about technicians
Not all engineers can provide all upgrades in Stalker 2. If you go to an incompatible tech to install a particular upgrade, the game will display the following message on the screen:
"The technician cannot install this upgrade"
Ensure the firearm you want to install the upgrade in isn't below 40% durability, or else you won't be able to invest in it. Also, keep a good amount of green bills handy, considering upgrading a firearm will cost you a good amount of coupons.
Best Technicians
When it comes to the best engineers in the game, there are various names in the world of Stalker 2.
Harpy, residing in Rostok base is one of the best techs for upgrading almost all late-game armor and weapons, including armored suits and exoskeletons. Bolero is another great technician for late-game equipment if you've reached Prypiat and Enerhetyk Palace of Culture base.
Meanwhile, Screw is a good choice if you're in the mid-game and want techs that can upgrade equipment of that level. He can upgrade guns, SEVA, and Sunrise suits. However, he won't be able to handle upgrades on higher-tier exoskeletons and armored suits.
There can also sometimes be instances where the technician is not connected with the loot that its respective region produces. For example, Sgt. Khmaruk, residing in Cement Factory, can't upgrade high-tier loot, even though Cement Factory is associated with refined late-game loot. As such, you'll need to double-check and find another technician who can handle advanced upgrades, such as those related to armored suits and exoskeletons.
